Sensory case studies - Sound
The power of sound
Sound has the power to transform any exhibition space.
It shapes how people connect, learn and remember. While too much noise can overwhelm, the right acoustic design can turn a stand into a space where conversations flow and messages resonate.
At Exhibit Interactive, we don’t treat sound as background noise. We see it as a vital sensory tool that enhances clarity, comfort and engagement. Whether it’s guiding people through a journey, amplifying a product launch or creating an atmosphere that sparks conversation, sound connects on an emotional level.
These case studies show how we’ve created thoughtful soundscapes for some of our clients to create exhibition stands that feel welcoming, inclusive and memorable for every visitor.
Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions: soundproof stand
We placed acoustics at the heart of Saint-Goban Interior Solutions’ stand design for the Education Estates and Healthcare Estates events. We seamlessly integrated its Ecophon sound‑absorbing panels into the structure, ensuring the space remained visually striking while delivering excellent sound quality.
Reducing background noise from the busy exhibition hall, the panels created a calmer environment where visitors could focus on meaningful conversations with the client’s team.
The combination of sleek aesthetics and practical acoustics control reinforced Saint-Gobain’s reputation for thoughtful, sustainable, people‑centred solutions. The result was a stand that looked impressive and sounded even better, enhancing engagement throughout the event.
“The design was innovative, practical and sustainable, while the interactive elements gave us a powerful way to engage visitors and showcase our acoustic solutions in context.”
Lizzie Wignall, Commercial Sector Marketing Communications Manager
Specsavers: silent disco
We designed a bespoke stand for Specsavers to help it cut through the noise at 100% Optical. A silent disco zone was central to the experience, where visitors donned wireless headsets to hear the presentations and product insights without distraction.
This innovative use of sound created a calm, focused environment that encouraged longer dwell times and deeper engagement.
Combined with interactive touchscreens, branded video content and playful elements like a buzz wire game, the silent disco proved a standout feature, allowing the Specsavers team to deliver its message clearly and memorably.
“Specsavers is all about changing lives through better sight and hearing. It was vital that our stand showcased this purpose and our expert care. Ei delivered on all counts. They understood our brief, came up with a creative concept that hit the mark and then executed it perfectly.”
Philippa Simkiss, Senior Engagement Manager, Specsavers
Specsavers: Interactive digital activities
Staying with Specsavers, we also created a bespoke stand designed to inspire young visitors through hands‑on interaction at the Big Bang Fair. Central to the experience were handheld tablets with headsets, loaded with product information, Q&As and a competition offering students the chance to win an iPad for their school.
These digital touchpoints encouraged participation, boosted dwell time and gave Specsavers valuable insights into visitor perceptions. Alongside interactive touchscreens, video content and themed games, the tablets helped transform the stand into a lively hub of engagement.
The result was a memorable experience that connected STEM careers with Specsavers’ mission to improve people’s lives.
“I was impressed with the solutions to our brief, and when it came to actioning those designs, everything seemed to happen seamlessly. The final stand was impressive. We had such a great reaction from the show organisers, the public, our colleagues and stakeholders.”
Lucy Knock, Early Careers Manager – Clinical Services
Exhibit Interactive: acoustic pod
For Tinnitus Awareness Week in London, we partnered with acoustics specialist Ecophon to highlight the importance of ear health in noisy exhibition environments. Together, we created a sound‑absorbing pod within the conference, using panels manufactured from recycled glass that absorb up to 100% of speech‑frequency sound.
The booth offered a calmer, warmer atmosphere where conversations were clearer, and visitors felt more comfortable. By integrating acoustic design into a visually engaging stand, we demonstrated how exhibitions can be inclusive spaces for the one in three UK adults affected by hearing loss, Tinnitus or deafness.
“Our panels make the environment calmer, they make speech and communication clearer, and they make the stand feel warmer, more comfortable and just a nicer space to be in.”
Andrea Harman, Concept Developer – Healthcare
Kontron: soundproof meeting room
We refreshed Kontron’s modular exhibition stand to help it showcase its latest innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Central to the design was a private meeting room, discreetly positioned behind the main space and constructed with sound‑absorbing Ecophon acoustic panels. These recycled, high‑performance materials reduced ambient noise and ensured sensitive conversations could take place in comfort and confidence.
The room balanced privacy with accessibility, offering a calm retreat from the busy exhibition floor. Integrating acoustic design into a visually cohesive stand allowed Kontron’s team to hold meaningful discussions while reinforcing its brand message of reliability and resilience.
“We’ve worked with Exhibit Interactive for many years on our largest show of the year, and they’ve consistently delivered creativity, reliability and a genuine enthusiasm for helping us achieve our goals.”
