Wavin at InstallerSHOW

The Client

Wavin UK is the country’s leading manufacturer and supplier of plastic drainage piping solutions for above and below-ground projects in the domestic, commercial and industrial markets. It offers a wide range of hot and cold plumbing, underfloor heating, drainage and stormwater management solutions for all applications.

Wavin is an innovative solution provider for the building and infrastructure industry globally, with many pioneering world firsts to its name, including ‘push-fit’ pipe and low-noise wastewater systems. With more than 60 years of expertise, it works with planners, engineers, trade suppliers and installers to help make residential and industrial areas more future-proof and sustainable, and buildings more comfortable and energy-efficient.

The Project

InstallerSHOW is the UK’s leading annual trade event for heat, water, air and energy technology specifiers, buyers and installers.

This year’s event saw more than 450 exhibitors, 160 speakers and thousands of delegates descend on the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to discover the latest products and technologies, network with peers and gain industry insights.

Wavin was at the event to showcase its latest innovation – the Tigris press fit plumbing system, with a unique acoustic alert feature that sets new water management standards. If it springs a leak, it emits a whistling noise to let installers know the fittings aren’t secured.

We were tasked with creating an interactive exhibition space to help promote the product and brand message to attendees.

The Solution

We created a simple, open stand space for Wavin using the T3 system, with custom-printed wall graphics and a branded totem displaying its product range.

Its centrepiece was a football-themed penalty shoot-out competition, which aimed to engage visitors. Participants took a shot, and if they scored a goal, they’d win branded football-related goodies, including, of course, a ref’s whistle.

We tied in the ‘whistle’ product feature by hiring an actor to take on the role of referee. He oversaw the game throughout the event and directed everyone taking part to speak to a member of the Wavin sales team after they had taken their penalty kick.

We made the stand from sustainable or reusable materials throughout to keep waste to a minimum and ensure an easy installation and takedown.

The Impact

Our stand delivered a fantastic result for Wavin, which helped it meet its visitor and lead generation objectives, as well as providing lots of video content for its social channels.

It was busy from the moment the show opened, and people were still queuing when it closed.

The stand also featured a product-focused area and demo unit, which we designed and delivered with Wavin’s technical director, to help visitors get hands-on with its latest innovations.

The cherry on the cake was when England legends Gary Neville and Stuart Pearce came along to take a couple of kicks and show the crowd how it should be done.

Testimonial

“Our original brief was very open – we wanted a stand that was fun, interactive and helped drive interest in a new product we were launching. Integral to this was a game that would help deliver our brand messages but would, most importantly, capture the interest of the show’s plumbers and installers and create a buzz to drive traffic to the stand.

“After several brainstorming sessions, the result was a football-themed game where installers could win branded merchandise. EI enlisted a ‘referee’ to run the game throughout, and he did a fantastic job keeping everything on track and encouraging visitors to speak to our sales team.

“After working with EI for several years, we never fail to be impressed by how they take an idea and turn it into reality. The stands are always delivered to the highest quality, and we also really appreciate how they have moved to more sustainable construction methods.

“This has allowed us to use our stand framework multiple times in different configurations to deliver different messages, with minimal waste. “A fantastic job all round, and we look forward to collaborating with EI on our stands in future.”
