Making Better Homes
at Jewson Live
The Client
Jewson is one of the UK’s best-known builders’ merchants. With branches nationwide, it offers expert advice, reliable service and high-quality building materials to contractors and DIY enthusiasts.
In 2022, it launched its Making Better Homes range of innovative sustainable products and services. The range includes renewable technologies, sustainable materials for loft conversion, renovation, extension, outbuilding and new build projects, plus advice on grant funding and support, and training and accreditation services.
Jewson wanted to promote the Making Better Homes brand at its Jewson Live trade show and appointed us to create a sustainable cardboard exhibition stand for the event.
The Project
Launched in 2015, Jewson Live is an annual expo for builders’ merchants that attracts thousands of visitors and suppliers from across the industry.
The event sees the UK’s leading brands offer live product demonstrations and practical advice while showcasing their latest products and innovations.
Celebrity guests and key industry speakers also share their expertise.
As the show’s host, Jewson had a massive presence at the event. It wanted to push Making Better Homes by showcasing the brand to the industry, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, and promoting its products and solutions.
The Solution
We created a free-standing exhibition space using branded cardboard boxes as the building blocks for the stand.
There were two areas, a seating zone with bespoke furniture, which incorporated an LED screen playing corporate video into the stand, plus a general branded display area.
Everything was bespoke, including a custom-designed tree sculpture and round plinth with an air source heat pump and other sustainable products on display.
For the structure, we used a 100% fibre-based board developed as a replacement for MDF and other wood products. Its pulpable, closed-cell board is super strong and 100% recyclable. It can be shaped into complex 3D designs for exhibition stands, furniture and other components.
The Impact
The stand’s unique and stunning design generated a lot of interest for Jewson, with many delegates commenting on its innovative use of cardboard to reflect the sustainable nature of the Making Better Homes range.
The stand was pre-cut and folded in our workshop, making it easy to set up and take down on-site and leaving no waste to clear afterwards. Jewson plans to reuse most of the stand’s elements at future events and in its showrooms around the country.
As with all the projects we undertake, our team planned this one in meticulous detail to ensure every element of the stand was taken care of. This allowed Jewson’s team to enjoy their event without having to worry about their stand.
