Advanced Bionics
at BCIG

The Client

Advanced Bionics is a leading designer and manufacturer of cochlear implants – electronic devices that provide a sense of sound to profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing people. It’s developed some of the world’s most sophisticated hearing technology, including the HiRes Ultra and HiRes Optima systems, which use advanced algorithms to provide users with clearer, more natural sound.

The company was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in California. With operations in over 50 countries and a track record for developing high-performing, state-of-the-art products, its team of talented hearing technologists are driven to succeed and stay firmly committed to quality while delivering unmatched customer service.

The Project

As a global brand with a firm commitment to sustainability, Advanced Bionics tasked us with creating an eco-friendly stand to help maximise its presence at the British Cochlear Implant Group’s (BCIG) 2023 annual conference.

Taking place in April, at the West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge, the event brought together leading researchers, clinicians and other professionals from the cochlear implants field. It provided a forum for participants to share the latest research breakthroughs, clinical experiences and hearing technology innovations.

Advanced Bionics was a platinum sponsor and had several keynote speakers at the event. It was looking for a sustainable stand to showcase its ‘30 years of powerful connections’ brand message to the industry.

The Solution

Advanced Bionics wanted its stand to be eye-catching and demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. We created an attractive, 100% recyclable cardboard stand to answer the brief.

Simple, effective and affordable, the stand comprised 16 individual cardboard blocks of varying sizes, which fitted together to create a textured stand shape.

Each block was custom-printed with either images, brand messaging or Advanced Bionics’ distinctive blue and white colourways.

We also installed LED lighting to highlight the main ’30 years of powerful connections’ message at the top of the stand and created a simple networking area with high table and stools in front of the stand.

The Impact

The stand was a huge success and proved a big draw among visitors, with several delegates complimenting its attractive design and sustainable nature.

It gave the client the presence they sought to help them maximise their event sponsorship.

Because the stand was made of cardboard, we pre-built it in our workshop, allowing for quick and easy installation on-site by a two-person team.

All the components were reusable, meaning the stand created zero waste.

Our detailed project planning and on-site management helped the Advanced Bionics team enjoy a stress-free event, safe in the knowledge that every aspect of their stand, from transport and logistics to installation to takedown, was taken care of.

Testimonial

“On behalf of the AB team, we wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for the event stand delivery. We’ve received so much positive feedback on this, it was a fantastic talking point at the conference, and it was very well received within the event.

“It was a really great design and created a big impact. The brown cardboard boxes exposed visually showed this to be cardboard and sustainable. Henry and Nick were very helpful on site, it was a quick and smooth set up, and they allowed for us to make minor changes moving the stand once assembled.

“Overall, we’re really thrilled and as mentioned, we’re keen to keep hold of these to repurpose for another event – especially the celebrating 30 years branding!”
